Design and operation
The BW vacuum pump is an oil- sealed, double-stage, rotary vane vacuum pump with a direct drive which transmits torque from the electric motor (3) to the rotor.
The rotor (1) with vanes is mounted eccentrically in respect to the cylinder (2). While rotating the rotor divides the compression chamber of the pump into a couple of compartments. Constantly increasing volume of the compartment directly connected to the outlet of the pump results in the decrease in pressure. The agent being pumped is transferred from the inlet via the compression chamber and the exhaust valve to the atmosphere.
The two stages of the vacuum pump are mounted to be coaxial with the motor and are connected by means of couplings. The rotors and the motor coupling (4) are submerged in oil. Such design ensures maximum sealing and silent running.
The casing of the vacuum pump (5) consists of the body and the cover with cooling fins. The inlet port is fitted with an anti- suckback valve. This valve is opened when the pump is operating and closes when it stops, cutting off the pump from the vacuum installation.
The inlet and outlet ports can be positioned vertically and horizontally. Oil flow is forced thanks to a vane pump being used.
The BW range vacuum pumps are delivered together with oil filters. The following advantages are associated with using the filter in the lubricating system:
- saving oil
- extend the oil replace intervals
- increased pump life
Appropriation
The pumps of this range are designed for evacuating atmospheric air as well as other chemically neutral gases and vapours.
The pumps of this type are intended for operation in the moderate climate at the ambient temperatures ranging from 12 to 35°C. They can work separately or act as backing pumps for diffusion, turbomolecular and cryogenic pumps.
In the event of aggressive gases being pumped the pump should be filled with special vacuum oil and fitted with a filter suitable for a given technological process. The major parts of this pump such as the inlet port, inlet filter, springs, oil ducts, oil separators are made of stainless steel.
Advantages
- direct drive
- compact design
- low level of noise and vibrations
- optimal lubricating in a closed cycle with continuous filtration of oil
- availability for pumping aggressive gases
- built-in anti-suckback valve preventing oil backstreeming and aeration
- extended life expectancy thanks to special treatment
- operation at the ambient temperatures ranging from 12°C to 35°C
- operation as a single unit or as a back-up pump
- no water cooling required
- suitable for different power supply systems
- provided with outlet mist filters preventing polluting
- in-factory tests according to the ISO/R16 and DIN2846 norms
